Mechanical Project Engineer –Maxam Equipment Inc – 6501 E Commerce Ave, Kansas City, MO 64120

Maxam Equipment Inc is searching for a Project Engineer to support our engineering operations. The Project Engineer is responsible for the design and management of asphalt plant equipment projects. This includes mechanical components and assemblies, new or modified, to satisfy expectations of customers and engineering. This position requires the ability to conceptualize and apply independent judgment with some direction in engineering principles. The position is located in our Kansas City office.

Key Responsibilities

• The Project Engineer must be capable of designing new equipment from the ground up, rebuilding or modifying existing equipment, and recommending equipment for purchase.
• Project Engineer is responsible for both design and project management. Maintain project budgets, track time lines and direct projects through all phases including design, fabrication, and installation.
• Manage all aspects of design. This includes job site visits to take field measurements for equipment layout. Design and documentation for all manufactured components. Creation of detail and assembly drawings including itemized bill of materials for both purchased and manufactured parts.
• Use CAD software to create fabrication models and drawings.
• Interact with Customers, Sales, Service, Quality and Plant personnel throughout the project.
• Job will generally be performed in a team-based office environment, but may require traveling to a client or subcontractor’s office, to a fabrication facility, or an asphalt plant job site. Travel times are typically 1-2 days, 5-8 times per year.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, civil, structural or architectural engineering. Related fields or relevant experience will also be considered.
• CAD proficiency in AutoCAD 2D.
• Experience in 3D Modeling Software, preferably Inventor Pro.
• Ability to plan and layout drawings without supervision.
• Experience in spreadsheet and word processor programs.
• Strong attention to details.
• Ability to occasionally work hours in excess of 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. schedule.

Service Advisor –Maxam Equipment Inc – 6501 E Commerce Ave, Kansas City, MO 64120

Maxam Equipment Inc is searching for a Service Advisor to assist our parts department. The Service Advisor is responsible for internal and external support of asphalt plant customer requests. This includes mechanical/electrical components and assemblies, new or modified, to satisfy expectations of customers. This position requires the ability to conceptualize and apply independent judgment with some direction in engineering principles.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with sales teams to clarify customer requirements and provide technical support.
• Assist internal and external customers with parts requests.
• Communicate technical aspects of products to customers and prospective customers.
• Confer with customers and in house engineers to assess equipment needs and to determine system requirements.
• Select and/or modify products to meet customer needs.
• Help clients solve problems.
• Help in researching and developing new products.
• Job will generally be performed in a team-based office environment, but may require traveling to a client or subcontractor’s office, to a fabrication facility, or an asphalt plant job site. Travel times are typically same day with occasional overnight travel.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10-15 years in asphalt plant maintenance or other material handling experience.
• Excel, Microsoft Word and Outlook experience a plus.
• Ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings.
• Strong attention to details and the ability to multi-task.
